Blaw Knox Bulldozer
(Code: MP57)
£ 2.00
These instructions describe the construction of a model based on the Dinky Supertoy model.

A compact model. Please note this model uses some Plastic Meccano Sprockets and Track Links which may be difficult to obtain

12 pages including text, b/w photographs and parts list.

Coles Six Ton Mobile Crane (Set 10 model)
(Code: MP128)
£ 11.80

These instructions describe a model built to 1/8th scale as closely as possible with Meccano
parts based on the well known Dinky Toy model.

The model can be built from a 1970-77 number ten set (although ten extra 168d Ball Bearings would make turntable assembly more robust.) A Meccano P.D.U. or Decaperm Motor powers all the movements. Four main levers in the cab control the lifting, derricking, slewing and drive to the road wheels. All have separate forward and reverse gears fitted. An extra lever enables the hook to be lowered quickly by gravity. The steering wheel turns the front wheels irrespective of where the cab is facing.

Fourteen pages of detailed instructions cover the Ball Bearing Turntable, Chassis, and Turntable Support; Rear Axle, Front Axle and Differential Assembly; Crane Framework and Main Frame; Gearbox, Luffing Drive, Hoisting Drive, Slewing Drive, Forwards & Reverse Drive, and Luffing Drive Control; Cab Floor & Steering Column; Slewing, Hoisting Drum and Clutch Controls; Motor; Cab Seat; Top Decking, Side Covers, Front Mudguards & Bumper, Rear Mudguards & Bumper; the Jib; Bodywork & Cab. A comprehensive parts list is included.

On the front and back inside and outside covers are no less than sixteen full colour photographs which include a full selection of constructional views of the model, plus a few of both the prototype and the Dinky Toy.

Dresser 510B Pay Loader
(Code: MP124)
£ 9.00

These instructions describe a modestly sized model which utilises the parts (plus some in addition) and infra red remote control from the Action Control Set 9526 (no longer on sale). The model is built to a nominal scale of 17:1 the scale being determined by the size of the tyres. Because of the limitations of Meccano dimensions, the scale of the other parts of the model is 15:1.

Instructions cover the front section; upper part (cab); the rear section; the bucket; the bucket lift and tilt mechanism and the wheels. The12 page leaflet is illustrated with eight colour photographs, a dimensioned drawing of the prototype and parts list.

Excavator (Set10 model)
(Code: MP237)
£ 6.40
These instructions describe the construction of a display model commissioned by Atlascraft, the ex-Meccano distributor, and used in their 1990 Meccano brochure. Redesigned to be buildable within the contents a Set 10 plus a Meccano E15R, E20R or similar motor.

Slewing and the action of the bucket arm are motorised and controlled independently by levers in the cab, and the model can be adapted to run continuously, like the original display model, slewing while the bucket arm moves realistically.

12 pages including text, colour photographs and parts list.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.

JCB 435 Articulated Loading Shovel (Set10+ model)
(Code: MP125)
£ 14.60

These instructions describe the construction of a machine which was just one of a range of machines developed in the early 1970s. it had four wheel drive with articulated steering and the engine mounted in the rear half, with the cab and loader on the front. All the 400 series had the JCB 'hush flow' exhaust system fitted. The 435 had a 137.5 hp engine and an operating weight of 12.809 kg. A bucket of 2.75 or 3.0 cu. yds. was fitted.

The model can be built from a 1970-77 No.10 Set. The only extras required are the Motor, the large tyres and some parts for the wheel hubs. A scale of 1:8 is used, to match the other JCB ModelPlans available, making the model 36" long, 15½" high to the cab roof and 24" overall operating height.

The model has six simulated hydraulic actions for the steering, lifting and tipping. Comprehensive instructions cover the Front Frame, Front Axle Casing, Lower and Upper Steering Pivots, Rear Frame, Rear Axle Casing, Rear Axle Pivot, gearbox Framework, Tiers of Gears, Steering Gear, Gear Lever Linkage, Winch Gear Selectors, Lifting Arms, Supports and Rams, Paralleling Linkage, Tiping Rams, Bucket, Cab, Cab Steps, Seat, Mudguards, Front Cover, Rear End, Engine Cover and Motor Fitting.

The 22 pages contain fifteen colour illustrations and fifteen drawings, plus Parts List.

Designed to be built from the largest (now obsolete) Meccano Set No.10, with the addition of a Meccano 6-ratio Power Drive Motor, large tyres and some parts for the wheel hubs.

The model replicates the movement of the real thing and features four wheel drive,

 20

JCB 930 Rough terrain Fork Lift (Set 10+ model)
(Code: MP136)
£ 13.20
These instructions describe the construction from a 1970s Meccano 10 Set (plus two large wheels) of a model  of a JCB 930 Fork Lift Truck.

The model is built as close to 1/8th scale as Meccano will allow. The two wheel drive square body version is modelled, with a three section telescopic mast, 25° tilting action, two speeds & forward/reverse gears controlled by separate levers in the cab.

The floating rear axle has simulated hydraulic steering with scale turning radius. The front driving axle has an all pinion differential and a three part axle giving very free running and is easily converted to a hub reduction drive using extra parts.

The mast extends from 12 1/2" to 32" giving a lift of 29" with the forks in place. Construction follows the prototype using channel and "I" sections, involving some accurate building and tight clearances. The second mast lift is by concealed cord and the third mast and fork carriage are chain operated with adjusters like the real thing. For appearance, Non-Meccano dummy hydraulic rams are fitted but may be omitted.

The Plan's front and back covers, inside and out, feature a fifteen part montage of colour photographs of the model, together with two of the prototype. Fifteen pages of instructions cover Front & Rear (Steering) Axles, Chassis, Gearbox Frame and Gears, Wheels, Steering Link, Masts, Upper Gearbox, Motor, Drive to Lifting Drums, lifting Cords and Chains, Carriage, Cab, Mudguards, Engine Cover, Forks, Jib, Pallet, and Hydaulic Rams. A fourteen page insert of detailed drawings is included, together with a two page, accurate and fully descriptive parts list.
