These instructions describe the building of a very large and detailed model of the most powerful locomotive ever used in Africa, and still in use today, features a prototypically-accurate chassis and has complete and correctly-functioning Walschaerts valve gear and suspension.
The original model builder has sourced a non-Meccano motor, although with slight alteration other motors could be used. Sheet aluminium has been extensively used to save on Meccano plates and add realism so the builder will need an additional large stock of Meccano strip and flexible plates if this option is not used. The original builder has also used 3D printed wheels which are available to order from the publisher, as .stl files, or instructions are included for alternative Meccano part construction .
