|These instructions describe the construction of a Bucket Chain Excavator which is used in surface mining and dredging. The model represents a type mounted on railway tracks which feeds a wagon lined up along its working way.
The model machine moves on a traditional railway, wider than the standard traffic lines balanced by a counterweight. A standard railway line runs along and passing below the rear. The model mimics the prototype apart from the tipping action of the buckets to deposit the spoil.
The model requires two 3-6v Meccano motors with gearboxes to power the buckets and arm plus a more powerful one of the model builders choice to power it along a track.
A 10-page instruction leaflet with text building instructions and colour photographs with a parts list. The model can be built mostly from standard Meccano parts, although not all may be currently produced.
Please note this Model Plan has been designed by a Meccano modeller from his own collection of parts. These are instructions only.
