A Meccano Orrery
(Code: MP59)
£ 2.00
These instructions describe the building of a Orrery which has been designed to show the motions of the Earth and Moon around the Sun. When the model is in motion the seasons of the Earth can be appreciated and eclipse of the Sun and Moon are correctly represented.

12 pages including text, b/w photographs, diagrams and parts list.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Five Orreries (SET10)
(Code: MP163)
£ 16.00
Instructions for building five different orreries from the contents of a Set10. These are: Pluto/Charon, Mars/Phobos/Diemos, Jupiter/6 largest moons, Uranus/6 largest moons and Neptune/frst 8 moons discovered/2 rings - which vary in degrees of difficulty. There are twenty pages of text, three tables of periodic calclations and four gearing diagrams plus eleven large colour photographs.

Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope (Set 10 model)
(Code: MP64)
£ 5.10
These detailed instructions describe the construction of this iconic landmark. Originally designed at the request of Meccano in 1976 to show what can be done with the largest Meccano set available at that time (Set 10). It features automatic movement imitating the tracking cycle of the real thing.

As this uses a standard set no parts list is given

48 pages including text, b/w photographs and diagrams.

Keplerian Solar System
(Code: MP197)
£ 7.60
This ModelPlan describes the construction of Meccano models representing three of the Extra-Solar systems so far detected by the Kepler Space Telescope launched in March 2009 - Kepler 11, Kepler 16 and Kepler 20. The models are the ideal ‘coffee table’ size, have no overhead gantries, and use standard Meccano gears and vary the size of the modelled planets to give an indication of their relative sizesThe normal aim of accuracy to within 1% is maintained. No figures for the rotation periods of the various stars are available so sensible guesstimates have been usedThe model is in five modules of similar appearance and most parts are standard; celestial bodies are represented by non-Meccano small balls or spheres. The modules are linked together and driven by a single motor.

16 pages of written instructions, colour photographs, gear diagrams and tables. The builder is expected to be able to visualise the construction of a model from description and overall pictures.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Large Object Orrery
(Code: MP181)
£ 14.90
Instructions for the construction of an Orrery which demonstrates all the known objects in our Solar System larger than 250km diameter. It consists of seven units, each of which can be built as a standalone model, and all units can be interconnected with periods of motion related within an accuracy of 1%. There are 40 pages of instructions, pictures, diagrams and tables describing the instructons. Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Planetarium (Set 10 model)
(Code: MP160)
£ 7.25
These instructions describe the construction of a Planetarium which is a specific name for an orrery which contains the Sun and all known planets. This demonstrates to movement of 9 planets and includes Quaoar, discovered in 2002. around the Sun.

16 page instruction leaflet with text, colour photographs, gearing diagram, gearing tables.  Designed to be built from the a Meccano Set 10, there is no parts list as the builder is expected to have access to the contents of this set.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Plutolabe (Set 10 Model)
(Code: MP220)
£ 6.40
Instructions decribing the construction of an Orrery of dwarf planet Pluto and its 5 known moons, the smaller of which are irregularly-shaped and tumble erratically, the motion of which requires a novel and intricate design of Meccano gear train to reproduce. Can be driven, optionally, by a Power Drive Motor.

12 pages with text, colour photographs, diagrams and historical information.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers. This plan is intended to be built with the contents of a Set 10. These are instructions only.
Red Dwarf Orrery (Set 10 Model)
(Code: MP233)
£ 7.60

Instructions describing the construction of an Orrery of the Red Dwarf star Trappist-1 and its newly-discovered 7 planets. .

16 page instruction booklet

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers. This plan is intended to be built with the contents of a Set 10. These are instructions only.

Science Faction Orrery
(Code: MP177)
£ 8.90
Building instructions for this unusual Orrery. The model is a mixture of fact and fiction. As well as the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Earth/Moon it includes 5 bodies observed by astronomers, sometimes authenticated, but ultimately proved to be non-exsistant.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Three Mini-Orreries
(Code: MP185)
£ 7.60
This Modelplan contains complete building instructions for three compact Orreries; two which demonstrate the major moons of Saturn and Neptune, and a simple Orrery of Dwarf Planet Pluto and its recently discovered moons.

Consists of a 16 page booklet of written instructions, photographs of the finished model, gear layout diagrams and data. The builder would require experience of interpreting the constructing a model from a picture, text and diagrams.

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Tiltarium
(Code: MP188)
£ 7.40
Instructions for a model which shows the axial tilts and relative rates of spin of the Sun, 8 planets and Dwarf Planet Pluto. Axial tilts cause the elevation of the Sun in the sky to vary throughout the year and hence give rise to seasonal variations, even on the outermost planets. The model also demonstrates the widely differing relative rates (and direction) of spin of the bodies, accurate to 1%. The model is in five modules of similar appearance and most parts are standard; celestial bodies are represented by non-Meccano small balls or spheres. The modules are linked together and driven by a single motor. Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
Two Extrasolar Orreries (Set 10 model)
(Code: MP173)
£ 7.60
These instructions describe the construction of two alternative extrasolar orreries. An extrasolar planet, or exoplanet, is a planet beyond our Solar System.  As at May, 2007, the count of known exoplanets stands at 234. They have mainly been detected by a variety of indirect methods rather than direct imaging.  Two extrasolar systems, 55 Cancri A and Mu Arae, have been found to have (at least) 4 planets and these are the subject of this model plan.

16 page instruction booklet with text description, data tables, gearing diagrams and colour photographs. There is no part list so the builder will have to have access to the contents of a Meccano Set 10, plus some non-standard parts (balls for the planets, extra mild steel rod and thin washers).

Please note these Model Plans are designed by individual Meccano modellers and may use parts not currently available. The level of instruction detail is dependent on the original modeller and varies from plan to plan. These are instructions only.
