Disneyland Matterhorn Bobsleds

These instructions are a guide for the construction of this substantial model based on a model featured in the October 1979 Meccano Magazine.

Double Flyboats (Set10 model)

Easy-to-Build Big Wheel

These instructions describe the building of a large exhibition model of a fairground Big Wheel which doesn’t take long to build and is constructed mainly from common parts.
                        

With a ‘drop in’ main bearing, it's easy to assemble on site without tools,  and runs reliably without attention.  It's also safe; a friction drive slips if necessary.  

Requires a small DC motor.

Electric Fruit Machine

Endless Ball Chute

These instructions describe the construction of amodified version of a model from the French Meccano Magazine of   April 1954

There are two towers, one for raising the balls and one for the descending chutes, connected by the top rail.  The balls descend down the chutes and drop out into mid-air to fall onto a solid hardwood base or solid block to bounce up into the basket to be returned to the top rail. The model is constructed, with the exception of the drive band, entirely from standard Meccano parts.

Fairground Octopus

Fairground Super Ride (Set 10+ model)

These instructions describe a model which can be mostly constucted from the contents of the largest Meccano( No.10) set, based on a ride that used to be on Walton-on-the-Naze Pier.

Like the real thing, the cars take off and free fall for a distance over the large hump when it gets up to speed. It includes an automatic stop/start intermittent drive, with maximum torque to overcome inertia at the start, accelerating to 'take off' speed before decelerating and stopping.

 

The Braced Girder railings are not, within the set, but are attractively appropriate and not essential to the model. Instructions include sections on the Base Frame, Base Ring, Mechanism Housing, Centre Housing, Automatic Mechanism, Non-Automatic Mechanism, Running Deck, Rotating Assembly, Kiosk and Steps, Motor Cover Door, and Fence Surround.

 

Eight page text instructions are supplemented by four pages of eight large and clear colour photographs.

Figure-of-Eight Roller Coaster

Fully Automated Rotawheels (Set 10+ model)

These instructions describe the construction of this substantial model standing about 4ft high.
 
When finished the model is electrically sequenced to provide five half revolutions of the double arm with pauses for the loading/unloading sequence during which the barriers are automatically operated, followed by a pre-set running period.

Most of the parts are contained in the largest standard Meccano Set (10) with a few additions and Electrikit parts.

High Flyers (Set10 model)

These instructions describe the construction of a model inspired by what is believed to be the oldest ride on Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach, built at the end of the 19th century, and still powered by its original Hiram-Maxim electric motor and chunky gearing. Like its prototype, the mechanism is exposed to view and the cars fly out realistically at top speed.

This model has been designed with the contents of a Meccano Set 10.

Improved Roller Coaster

These instructions describe a similar model to that in Model Plan 66, but larger. Only the functional part of the model is described, Model Plan 66 will be required if the Boarding Platform, Paybooth, ect are to be included.

Magician (Set10+ model)

These instructions describe the construction of is of a rare, late 1960's dealer's display model, revised to be buildable with a Set 10 plus a few extra parts.             

The Magician, with his moving head, mouth, ears and arms performs his trick of making his two nephews on the table in front of him magically disappear and then reappear, "Just like that!"

Marble Bouncer

Rotating Big Wheel

Table Hockey Game

Terror Tower White Knuckle Ride (Set 10 model)

These instructions describes the construction of the "Terror Tower" which is based on a full size " white knuckle" ride, but is not an exact scale replica. The ride has a square framework with three seats each side, facing outwards, around the tower. After loading, the seats are hoisted slowly up the tower and pause a few seconds at the top. They then plummet downwards, rapidly breaking to stop at a safe height from the ground. Another short pause and the seats are lowered safely to a soft landing at ground level to unload. Fully automatic gearbox and braking systems enable hands-free operation, with a complete cycle taking about two minutes, which is kind to the motor.

The model stands 6' 6" tall. (only the top two feet is shown in the above illustration) and is designed to be built from the largest, now discontinued, Meccano (No.10) Set. It needs a Decaperm, P.D.U. or E15R/E20R type motor as the only extra.

The eight pages of instructions are accompanied by eleven pages of constructional drawings. Outer and inner covers feature a further ten illustrations in colour.

A parts list is included.

The "Revolution" Roller Coaster
